Guidelines
- Martial arts and fitness training involve serious risks of
injury, disability, and/or death. Proper use of equipment sold
by Shogun Martial Arts helps reduce such risks but does not eliminate
or guarantee protection against them.
- Protective products are for no - to light contact only, unless
otherwise stated.
- Read and follow specific warnings and instructions on products
and in product literature. Save literature for reference for the
life of the product, especially if shared.
- Use only under the supervision of a skilled and qualified instructor/trainer
who responsibly monitors techniques and intensity of training
and assures that students are properly trained and physically
conditioned. Minors using these products should have constant,
qualified, adult supervision.
- Do not use old, modified, damaged, or improperly fitted equipment.
The condition and effectiveness of the gear may diminish with
time and use.
- Consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.
Know your limitations.
Sparring Gear and Training Accessories
- Shogun supplied sparring gear and accessories are intended
only to reduce the risk and severity of accidental injury to protected
areas during supervised no contact or light contact martial arts
sparring. Light contact/force does not cause pain, injury, penetration,
or visible movement of the opponent.
- All sparring participants should wear full sets of equipment.
Recommended minimum: head gear, hand protector, leg and foot protectors,
chest guard, mouth guard, and groin protection.
- Sparring gear is intended for martial arts sparring only and
not for other, or more intense uses (e.g., moderate to full contact
sparring, boxing, bag work, weapons training, other sports including
soccer, or for medical purposes).
- Using any protective equipment sold by Shogun Martial Arts
user assumes all responsibility for any injury
Fitness Products
- Shogun Martial Arts sold gloves are for impact protection are
intended only for light contact on soft training targets: padded
shields, hanging bags, speed bags, etc. light contact is impact
not intended to cause pain or injury.
- Padded training mats provide a margin of protection and shock
absorption but are not sufficient padding for many training purposes.
Martial Arts Weapons
- Shogun sold martial arts weapons are for training only under
expert supervision, for demonstration of forms, for collection,
or display.
- Weapons training requires: appropriate safety gear, including
head, face, eye, and mouth protection and other guards suitable
for the particular weapon and techniques being practiced and a
safe training environment set up to avoid injury to people and
objects.
- To decrease chances of injury, user should: respect the weapon(s),
inspect them before each use to ensure they are in proper condition,
and not use them for sparring or contact. Shogun Martial Arts
recommends that instructors limit children and beginners to the
use of foam rubber or foam-covered practice weapons and/or wooden
blades.
- Some weapons may be illegal in user’s area; user must
research and follow state and local laws. Shogun is not responsible
for improper or illegal use or modification of its weapons.
- Weapons will not be sold to anyone under 18 years of age.
